Keyword Tools
Keyword research sounds simple enough but, again, in the context of the internet it can all become a little confusing.
The Keywords are what you type into the search box. In the background all the indexed pages that are held with the relevant search engines are being collated and then displayed on the users results page along with the sponsored advertisements on the top and sides.
Simple really, however it is a vast and complex subject where if you get it wrong not only will your page not show up, but you could be wasting precious advertising dollars on useless terms with no benefit to you and paying too much for ones you believe are. It’s critical to the structure of your pages, headlines, meta description, keyword tags, alt tags around images, anchor and navigational links.
The right words are vital to the structure of your pages for “organic” growth i.e. the way that the search engine reads, index’s, categorizes, and ranks the relevance of your website pages without paying for advertisements.
They are also the bread and butter for P.P.C (Pay Per Click) campaignes like Google’s (TM) Adwords. Knowing which keywords to optimize for and more importantly to bid on is crucial to your ongoing success as you don’t want to be bidding on words that are far to competiive and that will cost you a small fortune to gain a favourable advertising position as the ROI (return on investment) will not be worth it.
It is certainly as much an art as a science, and the free tools are excellent to get started with, though the cost in this case is time and money in using Excel sheets and formulas to find the keywords that are going to be relevant to your market.
I strongly suggest investing in professional software to not only save you time but to make sure you are bidding and paying the right amount for the relavant keywords in relation to your niche. Invest in the right tools to get the job done properley for your business today.
Free Software

Google’s Keyword Tool
Google’s Keyword Tool is a very capable web based software, allowing you to do deep keyword research based upon Google’s database of searched terms. There is CSV export function so that you can import the data into Excel etc. Microsoft actually do some plugins for Excel that allow you to do deeper analysis.

iSpionage is offering a full access 7 Day Trial for $1.00 Dollar, then payments would start in full from the 8th day. This gives you plenty of time to look at the software and see if it meets you requirements. Click Here.
-
Keyword Discovery Tool (Trellion) has a free trial with some limitations as you would expect, again gives you a feel for the software as it is quite involved, so well worth spending sometime navigating your way around. Click Here.
-
KeywordSpy is also offering a lifetime free trial to help you get to grips with their interface. Again some functions, like amount of searches and length of list, have been limited but gives a fair account of what the software can do. Click Here.
Professional Software
My honest opinion of paid software is to try the free or low cost trials, as each has their strength & weaknesses, only the user will know what level of functionality is going to be of value to them and remember your needs will change over time.
